Off To Raasay

I set off at 8am. Wet roads and sunshine, but I've learned not to gloat about that.  Six miles on the A87 'motorway', designed to get tourists from A to B as fast as possible, but they were all still enjoying their full Scottish breakfasts and the road was empty.  Good views of glassy water between Strollamus and Scalpay, and a rainbow.  The main road ground up a big hill but I took a slightly longer loop round the headland via Moll.  Terrible road surface, no traffic.  A road for dawdling, enjoying the views over to the mountains,  clouds reflected in the sea.  Pondering the salmon farm: how does it work, what do the salmon think about it?
Moll consists of a single house and another building which could be the world's worst located fire station. Maybe salmon-related? There were zero cars in the whole six mile road, until the quarry near the end.
The ferry to Raasay was announced by another rainbow, and I just caught it.  Worth taking the ferry just for the views, which are superb in every direction.  Another rainbow over the Trotternish ridge, and still no rain to speak of, but it was a day dor sunshine and showers.
