Episode 11: Dorset and Hampshire beckon ...

It's 2025, so this will be my eleventh year of riding round the coast of Britain.   I haven't dropped dead, and nothing major has fallen off my body in all that time, so there's plenty to be cheerful about!  I have definitely got slower, but that could be due to all the hills in the Westcountry - very different to the flat east coast of England where I started in 2013.   I also carry more equipment with me now, as I've become a lot more familiar (and comfortable) with camping - although perhaps the weight of luggage hasn't increased that much.

When in Devon - Jam on top

This year, I will be starting at Exeter, rolling down the east bank of the river Exe and then hitting the hills of East Devon.  I know those hills quite well, having grown up in Sidmouth, and there are some really good ones, which you will probably enjoy reading about more than I enjoy climbing them.   It might flatten out a bit by the time I get to Hampshire, but I've heard worrying rumours that the Isle of Wight is not completely flat.  Anyway, it promises to be a lot of fun, and after the driest spring since 1961, I'm looking forward to sun, sun, and more sun, at least for the first few days.

As always I'll try to post an update on here every day, so if you want to follow my travels, keep checking in.    I look forward to having your virtual company.

Thanks for commenting! I do get to see the comments but it's not easy to reply when I'm on a ride.
